I'm sure the Barmy Army did care a lot about not losing but unlike Australians they have a sense of humour and they tend not to abandon the stadium when everything has gone tits up.

Personally I blame the Barmy Army for England’s years in the wilderness in the 90’s
All that pretending they didn’t care about losing did England no favours.
I take it they don’t sing about $3 to the pound any more?
To be honest it isn’t a great Aust side so I am fairly relaxed as to how they get on. Expectations aren’t high
Plus I have won at least a dozen Ashes series since the mid 70’s so Steven Smith is obviously under a LOT more pressure with his inferior record.
